Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to collect and analyze data about the usage of our website. These tools help us understand how visitors interact with our site, allowing us to improve user experience and optimize our content.

Google Tag Manager: This tool helps us manage and deploy marketing tags (snippets of code or tracking pixels) on our website without having to modify the code directly. It enables us to quickly and easily update tags and code snippets for traffic analysis and marketing optimization.

Google Analytics: This service tracks and reports website traffic. It provides us with valuable insights into how users find and use our website, which pages are most frequently visited, and how long users stay on our site. This data helps us make informed decisions about our site’s content and structure.

The data collected through these tools is anonymized and aggregated, ensuring that individual users cannot be identified. By using our website, you consent to the collection and processing of data by Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

Payments

We do not collect or store any transactional or non-transactional payment data on our servers. All payment processing is securely managed by our trusted partner, Paddle. Paddle acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions, handling payment processing, tax compliance, and invoicing on our behalf.

Paddle is a well-established payment provider in the SaaS industry and maintains PCI DSS compliance to ensure the highest standards of payment security. Importantly, Paddle does not retain your credit card information. Instead, they utilize tokenization—a secure method where sensitive card details are replaced with a unique token—to process subscription payments. This approach ensures that your actual card information is neither stored nor accessible during transactions.

If you have any concerns regarding your payment data, please contact us. We can liaise with Paddle on your behalf to address any issues or requests, including the deletion of non-transactional data related to your order. You can also contact Paddle directly at https://paddle.net/ for assistance.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

DiagnoSEO Browser Extension

The DiagnoSEO browser extension for Chrome and Firefox is built to be privacy-first. This section explains exactly how it handles data.

What the extension accesses. When you click the DiagnoSEO icon on a page you want to analyze, the extension reads that page’s publicly available content directly inside your browser: the HTML source, meta tags, headings, links, images, structured data, and the page’s HTTP response headers (such as the status code, X-Robots-Tag, and canonical). To check redirect chains and response headers, it observes the navigation requests of the tab you are analyzing.

What the extension does NOT do. The extension does not collect, store, or transmit your browsing activity, page content, or personal information to DiagnoSEO servers or to any third party. It contains no analytics, tracking, advertising, or fingerprinting. It does not sell or share data, and it does not build a user profile or track you across websites.

Network requests. The only network requests the extension makes are to the same page you are analyzing — to retrieve that page’s HTML, favicon, response headers, and (for the GEO/AI checks) its /llms.txt file. These requests are made without your cookies or credentials. No data is sent to DiagnoSEO or to any external server.

Data storage and retention. All analysis happens locally in your browser and is ephemeral — it is held in memory only while the popup is open. The extension stores no analysis results and keeps nothing after you close it.

Permissions and why they are needed.

  • activeTab and scripting — to read and analyze the page you actively choose to inspect.
  • tabs — to read the current tab’s URL and title so the analysis can run.
  • webRequest — to observe the analyzed page’s navigation in order to detect redirect chains and read SEO-relevant response headers. This is observation only; the extension does not block, modify, or redirect any request.
  • host access (all sites) — so you can analyze any page you visit. This access is only used when you actively trigger an analysis.

Contact. For privacy questions about the extension, contact us at [email protected].
